League History
The MOLSON SPORTSMEN HOCKEY LEAGUE was established in 1991/92.
The league was established to promote fun and community fellowship within an “open draft” hockey organization. The league is open to anyone who is 30 years or older as of January 1st of the current hockey season. No restrictions on skill level. Team Captains draft from the registered base of players each year to ensure well balanced teams. Balancing of teams promotes sportsmanship, fun and competitiveness within the league. LEAGUE FORMAT: Old timers style (30 years +) draft league CARHA (was the C.O.H.A.) on ice rules apply.

Approx. 45 games played during Regular season/Playoffs
Round robin tournament play off at end of regular schedule
Awards banquet to wrap up the season after playoffs
TEAM SPONSORS: Provide for team sweaters, socks, business logos etc., Uniform repairs & replacements
MAJOR LEAGUE SPONSOR: Provides score sheets, year-end banquet awards, new uniform cresting, etc.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Player registrations
Team captain assignments
Organizes player draft
Books and schedules ice time
Books and schedules referees
Books and schedules time keepers/statistician
Procures uniforms, logos and repairs
Sets up League game and tournament schedules
Holds League meetings (general and disciplinary)
Media liaisons
Develops and distributes League newsletters
Organizes year end awards banquet
Executes sponsor promotion/s
Maintains League web site
TEAM CAPTAINS: Draft Teams at start of season
Distribute and collect Team sweaters/socks
Communicate League/Sponsor information to players
Ensure equal ice time for all Team members
Participate in League meetings (general/disciplinary)
